Middle School & High School Student Schedules
August 27 Update:
Middle School (grades 6-8) student schedules will be available online in the Parent Portal on Wednesday, September 1 and can also be picked up at the middle school "Back-to-School" night.
High School (grades 9-12) student schedules will be available online in the Parent Portal on Tuesday, August 31 and can also be picked up at the high school open house.

Back to School Night

Technical issues have produced a delay in the finalization of class schedules. You will be able to pick up your class schedules this evening (Schedules will be added to Parent Portal as soon as they become available. Because of the delay, we do not anticipate mailing schedules.) Also, this evening: Lifetouch will be available to take student pictures. Food Service staff will be available to answer questions and take school lunch payments. Cold Stone Creamery and WMS are teaming up for a tasty fundraiser: bowls of ice cream will be available for $3.00 each.
Back to School and Information Night
Tuesday, August 31
4:30 - 7:00 pm
For students, parents,& families. Tour the school, pick up your class schedule, meet teachers, find lockers, shop at Park Place School Store. If you are unable to attend, schedules will be sent to your home address.

Printed copies of the full school calendar have been delivered to the post office for distribution and should begin arriving at homes the week of August 30.
Fall Sports registration packets will be available on Monday, August 2, 2010. Packets need to be picked up at the High School Athletics Office. Registration for all fall Spring Lake Park High School sports begins August 2. Stop by the Spring Lake Park High School Athletic/Activities Office Monday through Thursday, between the hours of 8 am and 4 pm.
Fall Parent/Athlete Registration & Orientation Meeting
On Monday, August 2nd there will be an Orientation/Registration meeting in the Fine Arts Center at 6:30 pm for all athletes in grades 9-12 (along with middle school athletes who are competing with their 7-12 HS sport) and their parents. The meeting starts at 6:30pm with individual team meetings to follow. Fall registration packets will be available on August 2.
First Day of Practice
Monday, August 16 is the first day of practice for all fall grades 9-12 sports.
Spring Lake Park Child Care Services provides quality child care before- and after-school for children attending District 16 schools in grades K-8 and all-day daycare for children who are four-years old by September 1 of the current year. The program promotes learning and growth in all areas of development through interesting and fun activities. Child care programs begin with the first day of school each September and ends with the last day of school each June. Full-day care during non-school days (School Release Days) is also available and Summer care is available, as well.

Many of our school district families take advantage of a program offering reduced prices for school meals. Some families qualify for this program because their household income has always or generally been below a given level. Others have taken advantage of this program because their household income is temporarily below a given level.

Preschool & School Readiness
This program ensures that 3-5 year old children are ready to enter Kindergarten. Licensed teachers make learning fun through creative experiences that teach skills in math, science, literacy, social interactions, and the arts. All preschool classes use a curriculum that is aligned with Spring Lake Park School District’s kindergarten goals. Two, three, or four days-a-week classes are offered in the morning or afternoon at Woodcrest and Northpoint Elementary Schools.
Early Childhood Family Education Programs (ECFE)
Classes and activities for families with young children (birth up until kindergarten). Parents and children attend ECFE together. ECFE helps build strong and healthy families. Classes help guide parents through their child’s stages of development and build positive parentchild relationships. Classes are offered morning, afternoons and evenings.
GED, Adult Diploma and Basic Skills
FREE adult classes in Basic Skills (math, reading, writing) English as a Second Language, GED (high school equivalency), high school diploma, private tutoring. Morning and evening classes are offered at a variety of locations.
Youth Enrichment
After School Adventures and Summer Adventures are enrichment program for children pre-kindergarten through 8th grade, offered year-round. Watch for class announcements and registration materials to come home from school! A sampling? Science Explorers, Computer Explorers, Young Rembrandts, Theater, Sports, and World Languages (Spanish, Chinese).
Adult Enrichment
Enrichment programs for adults, such as online learning opportunities, technology, and fitness classes, are offered throughout the year. Watch for the Fall and Winter/Spring Class Catalog to be delivered to your homes! (If you are interested in teaching an adult class, call us today!)
Early Childhood Screening
Free health and developmental screening for children between the ages of 3 ˝ and 5 to promote the health of children and their readiness for kindergarten. (Required by state law prior to kindergarten).
Facility Rentals
Our newly renovated and state-of-the-art school district facilities are available for rental to the community, including our 600-seat Fine Arts Center, athletic fields, and various multi-purpose rooms.
CHANCE for Teen Parents
Community Helping Adolescents Nurture Children in Education” is an on-site program for pregnant and parenting teens. The school district and community are committed to helping teen parents succeed in school, parenting. and life skills.
Middle School and High School Clubs
Ski & Snowboard Club, Bowling Club, Knowledge Bowl Club, Middle School LaCrosse, Ultimate Frisbee Club.
Panther Den
An adult-supervised after-school high school “hang-out” with board games, movies, homework help, and more!

Classroom and behind the wheel instruction offered throughout the year.
Leo Club
A community service organization for high school and middle school students in collaboration with the SLP Lions Club.
