Choir - Course Grading

The students will be graded in two specific areas: (1) Academic Performance and (2) Career and Life Skills. The Final grade will be a sum of the two areas with Academic Performance receiving 90% of the weight and the Career and Life Skills area receiving 10% of the weight. See the break down below.

Academic performance (90% of the Final Grade)
This grade will be based on “summative assessments.” These are assessments (tests) that measure what a student “really knows” or “really doesn’t know” at a specific point in time.

Career and Life Skills (10% of the Final Grade)
This grade will be based in three areas. They are:
  1. Formative Assessments (50% of the overall Career and Life Skills 10%)
  2. Rehearsal Readiness (25% of the overall Career and Life Skills 10%)
  3. Rehearsal Etiquette. (25% of the overall Career and Life Skills 10%)
Formative Assessments
Formative Assessments are assessments, quizzes, worksheets and skill evaluations that are a part of the teaching and learning process. They provide a guide for the teacher and student to adjust along the way to make for a better and more effective learning experience. They are used to let both student and teacher know how things are going along the way so any immediate adjustments, additions or “U Turns” can be made so the final goals can be met.
