The first annual St. John's CC retreat has come to a close.  Even though we battled deer flies and hilly terrain the runs were enjoyable.  The scenery was picturesque and it included a variety of wild animals.  We also enjoyed perfect weather and awesome food.  We may have actually gained weight even though we were constantly active playing racket ball, canoeing, walking, biking, and lifting weights.  We had a couple of intense racket ball tournaments and a couple wild games of hearts.  I would like to thank those for coming.

8/20/10
Today was the first annual cannon ball competition and it was an intense, especially on the girls side.  In the end the winners impressed us all with their freestyle cannon balling.

Nick Cockriel won for the boys with a back flip cannon ball.
Shona Strohmayer finished with a flip twist to take this years title on the girls side.

Cell Phone Recycling
This is about as easy as it gets.  Almost everyone has a used cell phone laying around and we would be happy to take them.  Best Buy is willing to buy them back from us.  This is good for us as well as the environment.  We will complete this drive in September and should benefit from it this year.

Below you will find several articles which will help you to stay healthy during the summer and CC season
As coaches we preach the importance of hydration, nutrition, and rest but we may never say why or give a vague reason why these things are important. Here are a few articles I liked which give good explanations as to why hydration, rest, and nutrition are important and what happens to our bodies when we do not take care of them.  If we neglect our bodies needs, we will never get the most out of it.  As a result we will not perform at our best.
