About the School Board
The School Board consists of seven at-large elected members and the Superintendent, who is an ex officio member. During the school year, the school board welcomes 2 student representatives from the high school student council. They can participate in discussions and ask questions, but are non-voting members. The Board meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm in the District Services Center, located at 1415 - 81st Avenue NE, Spring Lake Park. If an additional meeting is needed, it is scheduled at 7:00 pm on the fourth Tuesday of the month.
The Board can take official action only at meetings that are open to the public. District residents are invited to attend Board meetings. Ideas and suggestions for improving District 16's educational services are always welcome. Residents who wish to address the School Board or adminstration at one of its regular meetings may do so during "Communication to the Board and Administration," begininng fifteen minutes prior to the start of the meeting.
If a resident desires to have an item added to the Board's meeting agenda, it will be considered for placement on the agenda for the next meeting of the Board. Agenda information is available the day before each meeting at the District Services Center, by calling 763-786-5570, ext. 5513, or on this website. School Board minutes and agendas can also be e-mailed by signing up for E-News. |
