Current Initiatives
Math
The Math task force is in its second year of curriculum development. We will focus on creating Essential Learning Outcomes: Enduring Understandings, Essential Questions, and Learning Targets. In addition, we will select materials that will be implemented over the next two or three years in our classrooms. The Enduring Understandings are focused on the five process standards identified by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics.
Curriculum Leads
The curriculum lead role was clarified by the Learning, Teaching, and Accountibility leadership group over the summer. This year, the curriculum leads will be introduced to the descriptions of their work. Jennifer York-Barr, UMN, and Jennifer Kunze will work together to provide leadership training for our leads. After training, the leads will analyze the current state of the curriculum and identify projects that will lead to continuous improvement.
