EL - English Learner
 
ESL - English as a Second Language

Sheltered Content courses - Teaching approach promoting development of a second language (English) while simultaneously facilitating mastery of academic content taught through that second language.
 
Cluster(ing) - A design for grouping EL students together with a classroom teacher in order to facilitate collaboration.
 
Acquisition - The development of a new skill, practice, or way of doing things.
 
Secondary - Occurring after primary school. EDUCATION intended for students who have completed their primary education, usually for children in grades 7-12.
 
Remediation - The use of remedial methods to improve skills or reverse environmental damage (Remedial- EDUCATION designed to help people with difficulties to improve their skills or knowledge, or relating to education designed to do this.)
 
Dissemination - The distribution or spreading of something, especially information, widely, or becoming widespread.
 
Thematic integration - Relating to the theme of opening up a group, place, community, or organization to all, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, gender, or social class.
