Sexual Assault Nursing Care (SANE)
Services: A Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) is available 24 hours a day and may be requested at Unity or Mercy emergency rooms (or any metro ER). Minors do not need parental permission to have a sexual assault examination performed. Exams are confidential.A victim of sexual assault can receive prophalactics up to 5 days after the assault to prevent pregnancy. An evidentiary exam can be performed if the victim so wishes. It would be customized to the details of the assault.
