Language Arts 10A:
Fiction and Research
9th-10th grade level |
This course introduces students to novel-based research. Students will read and reflect on a novel of topical importance. Students will then develop and follow a research plan thematically linked to the issues and themes of the novel. |

Women’s Literature and Issues
Open to 11th-12th grade |
This course uses Sue Monk Kidd’s "The Secret Life of Bees" as a platform for researching and discussing women’s issues. After reading and responding to the novel in whole, students will then develop and follow a research plan thematically linked to the issues and themes of the novel. |

Creative Writing
Open to 11th-12th grade |
In this course, students will demonstrate understanding of the elements, techniques, and processes of creative writing and how works of creative writing are structured; and, in creative writing, the student shall create or perform, or both, an original creative writing presentation including a single complex work or multiple works. |

Term 2 |

World Literature
11th-12th graders |
This course surveys modern literature selections from North and South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Pacific authors. Focus and time to be spent on seeing cross-cultural connections, particularly when many students see the world through "American" glasses. |

Research Writing
11th-12th graders |

Speech Communications

This course is for the learner interested in learning how to plan, deliver and evaluate speeches. This course also examines basic communication strategies, situations and dynamics. Influential and important historical speeches will also be studied. |

This course explores the literary genre of romance via poetry, short story, and film. |
